Running the day-to-day operations at Maryland requires a special level of energy, but Maryland Coach Mark Turgeon knew he was getting special breed of worker when he hired the 28-year-old Omidvar for the job in May. 

Bio

A 2008 graduate of the University of Maryland, Nima Omidvar joined the Maryland basketball program as its director of basketball operations in 2014. With over a decade of coaching experience at the collegiate and high school ranks, Omidvar has played an integral role on teams that have advanced to six consecuitve NCAA Tournaments (Maryland, NC State, Bowie State).

DC Metro Showcase’s Championship Day Doesn’t Disappoint

As the first AAU/travel circuit event of 2007 in the Washington, DC area, the DC Metro Showcase promised to not only allow teams from 15-under to 17-under a vital opportunity to fine tune their lineups in preparation for the upcoming season, as well as provided onlookers a chance to view and assess the team’s rosters.

This weekend at Boyd, Maryland’s Discovery Sports Center, the DC Metro Showcase will once again provide exposure for young men of high school age, as over 80 teams between 17 and 13 will converge to display their skills and win the D.C. area’s first grassroots title of 2008. If last year’s event is a barometer, the participants will be well served.
